Course on “X-ray Image Analysis”
Thanks to the effective and continuous cooperation between the World Customs Organization and the State Revenue Committee, a training on “X-ray Image Analysis” was held on April 29–30 and May 3 at the RA SRC Training Center for employees of the Department of Customs Service and Control at State Border Land Checkpoints.
The course was delivered by World Customs Organization experts Klaus Himmolert and Tehno Sopanen. The invited specialists shared their professional experience and skills and presented WCO toolkits and initiatives related to the implementation of “Non-intrusive Inspection” methods in customs operations, including "Material Discrimination" and "Automatic Threat Detection" programs.
Various approaches and tools for analyzing X-ray images were discussed during the training, with particular emphasis on radiation safety standards.
Participants also visited a customs warehouse and carried out practical exercises using X-ray equipment. Image analysis, case studies, and the review of lessons learned will contribute to the professional application of the acquired knowledge and skills in performing duties at border checkpoints.
