AUA Students Successfully Completed Their Capstone Project at the State Revenue Committee
Within the framework of cooperation between the RA State Revenue Committee and the American University of Armenia, AUA students successfully completed their capstone project at the SRC, combining their academic knowledge with practical experience.
During the project implementation, students from the Manoogian Simone College of Business and Economics conducted their research with the support of the RA SRC Tax Information and Risk Analysis Department.
The students explored various processes within the tax system, particularly focusing on the tools used in international tax practice for the identification and classification of goods—namely coding systems used to ensure accurate identification, control, and taxation. They presented practical recommendations aimed at improving the efficiency of tax processes, reducing misclassification of goods, automating the processing of goods-related data, and enhancing the transparency of trade flows.
SRC specialists highly appreciated the students’ analyses, noting that some of the proposals could serve as a foundation for future reform initiatives.
The academic supervisor of the project, Karen Sarkavagyan, emphasized the importance of open and direct cooperation with a public institution, which significantly contributed to the students’ motivation and productivity.
Arusyak Mirzakhanyan, Director of the SRC Training Center, noted that this initiative is a strong example of mutually beneficial cooperation between the state and academia, aimed at strengthening the Committee’s capacities and supporting the professional development of young specialists.
Karine Nersisyan, Head of the RA SRC Tax Information and Risk Analysis Department, highlighted that students were given the opportunity to gain practical insight into public administration, identify areas for improvement, and propose new solutions.
This trilateral, responsible cooperation proved to be effective, reaffirming the importance of ensuring the continuity of such programs.
